In this little slice of heaven you can see the tollbooths on the Garden State Parkway as well as a waste treatment plant. If you pan around the riverfront there you can find lovely images of polluted waste ponds and the industrial ruins of previous use of the waterfront.
I think the satellite pic is actually of the Garden State Parkway, not the NJ Turnpike. The GSP has toll plazas spanning all lanes of traffic every few miles, the Turnpike’s toll booths are only at exit interchanges. I believe the picture shows northern Monmouth County, NJ, where the Parkway separates into express/local lanes.
Thanks, I will correct the caption.
This is located in the town of Sayreville, NJ. Not far from the pictured area is a large steel processing plant & also one of the most toxic Superfund sites in the country, located off Horseshoe Road. I live in sayreville, (sigh).
